The iconic Debenhams store in Southampton city centre is currently being demolished by Forshaw Demolition Ltd, making way for a new residential development at the heart of the city.
Given the sensitivity of the location close to busy streets and public areas, strict dust and odour control measures are being enforced by the City Council. To meet these requirements and ensure flexible, site-wide suppression, Forefront Demolition turned to Inmalo for a robust solution.
The answer came in the form of the MB SC40SS-M dust cannon, a self-contained unit equipped with a diesel generator and a 2,000-litre water tank. This setup allows the cannon to be easily repositioned around the site without the need for a fixed water or power connection, making it ideal for fast-moving demolition work.
The SC40SS-M also features a telescopic mast, allowing targeted dust suppression at higher elevations. With a 40-metre throw range, motorised mast elevation and tilt, and full 360° oscillation, the unit delivers wide-area coverage and precise control, essential for large-scale demolition areas where agility is key. The dust cannon can be easily moved using straps or pallet trays. Notably, the MB range also supports water conservation, with a half-ring suppression mode that maintains throw range while reducing water usage.
Alan Graham, Site Manager at Forshaw Demolition, commented:
“This MB dust cannon has made a real difference to controlling dust on-site, especially so close to the busy main roads. It’s incredibly easy to use and set up, we’ve been really impressed with its performance and run rate.”
Charles Polak, Director at Inmalo, added:
“The MB range offers more configuration options than any other manufacturer. We’re proud to provide excellent value, strong customer support, and the flexibility of both purchase and rental options.”
